Gaiteros - Trotamundos 82-88

Trotamundos made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game, while Gaiteros only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Gaiteros 45-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Gaiteros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dominican guard Juan Suero (196-1993) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American point guard Nate Barnes (181-1990, college: ABU) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and his fellow American import swingman Micheal Warren (196-1995, college: CSUN) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gaiteros' coach Julio Duquela rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help.

Pioneros dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Marinos' 30. Dominican-American forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) notched 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American Tim Bond (201-1995, college: EMU) supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Bond is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Marinos. Dominican center Luis Santos (203-1994, college: St.Louis) added 7 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
