Curro Segura is the new head coach of Venezuela's Senior National Team- November 17, 2025

The Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) issued a press released to confirm that Spanish Curro Segura is the new Senior National Team head coach and will be responsible of leading the "Vinotinto" squad in the upcoming 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
Segura was born in Granada, Spain and is a 53 year-old experienced coach who started his career in Spain's EBA, going up in the ranks through LEB Bronze, Silver and Gold prior to breaking into the ACB, in which he coached teams such as Menorca, Zaragoza or Betis, as well as Obradoiro and Granada. He's also had successful stints in leagues of China, Greece, Egypt, Uruguay and Venezuela. Meanwhile, when it comes to national teams, he coached Kuwait in 2014. In Venezuela, he's known because of his time as head coach of Gigantes de Guayana between 2015 and 2017 in the extinct Liga Profesional (LPB). Venezuela's first game in the World Cup Qualifiers to Qatar 2027 will take place in 10 days against Colombia in Cali (November 27th). Then, they'll play against Colombia again three days later at Parque Miranda in Caracas. |
