Pioneros Del Avila (SPB) acquired 29-year old ex-international small forward Edgar Martinez (199cm-105kg-1997) for the new 2026 season from Guaiqueries de Margarita via trade. He played last summer at Guaiqueries. In 29 SPB games in Venezuela, he had 5.7ppg, 2.8rpg, and 1.1apg.
In this move, Eliezer Montano (206-F/C-1991) was sent to Guaiqueries.
"Petare" Martinez represented Venezuela at the Panamerican Games in Santiago (Chile) three years ago.
Martinez is a highly experienced player, having played for teams in Argentina (Argentino, Comunicaciones, and Salta Basket), Belize (Trojans), Brazil (Rio Claro), and Venezuela (Marinos, Trotamundos, Gladiadores).
Martinez has played in the final of Venezuelan SPB in 2024. He was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SLB Honorable Mention in 2021.
