SPB 2026 - Trotamundos welcome back David Cubillan, ex Aguada

Trotamundos de Carabobo (SPB) signed 38-year-old Venezuelan international David Cubillan, a 181cm point guard from Marquette. This marks his return to La Asuncion, where he has played before. Cubillan most recently played for Aguada in the Uruguayan LUB league, averaging 1.5ppg, 2.0rpg, and 1.5apg in two games last season.
He also represented Venezuela at the FIBA World Cup in Philippines-Japan-Indonesia three years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 7.6 points per game and had 1.4 rebounds per game.
Cubillan is a highly experienced player, having played in seven different countries on three different continents - Europe, Latin America, and North America. He has played professionally in Brazil (Flamengo and UNIFACISA), Colombia (Titanes and Storm), Israel (Maccabi Ashdod), Mexico (Fuerza Regia, Halcones UV Xalapa, Abejas, Soles, and Dorados), Spain (Huesca), Uruguay (Goes), and Venezuela (Guaiqueries and Guaros).
Among many awards, he played in the final of the Venezuelan SPB in 2025. He was voted to the Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SPB Honorable Mention in 2025. Cubillan is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Trotamundos.
He graduated from Marquette University in 2010 and is currently in his 16th season as a professional player.
