SPB Round 13 (Regular Season): Guaiqueries are defeated by Trotamundos

Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Guaiqueries (5-2) and seventh ranked Trotamundos (5-3) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Guaiqueries were defeated by Trotamundos in a tough game in La Asuncion 83-89. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Guaiqueries. Trotamundos made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Guaiqueries helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Panamanian power forward Eric Romero (210-1999) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized American Donta Smith (201-1983, college: SE Illinois JC) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Dominican point guard Gelvis Solano (185-1994, college: Merrimack) responded with 21 points and 8 assists. Guaiqueries' coach Fernando Duro rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Trotamundos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pioneros and Spartans. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the third position with two games lost. They share it with Cocodrilos. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Margarita. Eleventh ranked Centauros (2-6) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 9th ranked Diablos (2-6) 67-66 in the game for the ninth place. American DeAngelo Stewart (197-1995, college: PFW) nailed 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Douglas Rondon accounted for 18 points. American forward Delwan Graham (200-1988, college: Jacksonville, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for Diablos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Centauros moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Diablos and Heroes. Diablos lost fourth consecutive game. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Twelfth ranked Heroes (2-6) beat at home 10th ranked Panteras (1-6) by 15 points 90-75, which is the biggest margin this round on Wednesday night. Michaell Jackson fired 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Argenis Indriago produced 18 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Heroes moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Diablos and Centauros. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Heroes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Pioneros.




Centauros - Diablos 67-66
