Montero number one in Venezuela SPB for round 22 (by Hoops Agents)

Dominican Rep. Luis Montero (203-SF-1993) put on an amazing game in the last round for Cocodrilos de Caracas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 32-year old player had a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Diablos (#10, 4-8) 96-81. Cocodrilos maintains the 4th position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cocodrilos will need more victories to improve their 9-3 record. Montero just recently signed at Cocodrilos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former South Plains College star has very solid stats this year. Montero is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.4rpg), assists (8th best: 4.3apg) and averages impressive 2.3spg and 64.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Ar'Mond Davis (197-G/F-1995) of Diablos de Miranda. Davis had a very good evening with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Diablos lost that game 81-96 to the higher-ranked Cocodrilos (#4, 9-3). This loss caused Diablos to drop to 10th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-8 record. Davis is one of the most experienced players at Diablos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.2ppg (#9). He also registered 4.6 boards per game. Former University of California Santa Barbara star Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third on the list of top players last round was Dominican Rep. guard Gelvis Solano (185-PG-1994) of Guaiqueries de Margarita (#3). Solano showcased his all-around game by recording 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Guaiqueries, leading his team to a 81-72 win against the lower-ranked Pioneros (#8, 6-7). Guaiqueries needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Solano has a great season in Venezuela. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 7.2apg (best passer).
