SPB Round 26 (Regular Season): Spartans are defeated by Heroes

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Caracas between second ranked Spartans (11-4) and eleventh ranked Heroes (6-10) on Wednesday night. Spartans were defeated by Heroes in a tough game at home 74-82. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Spartans. Bahamas David Nesbitt (205-1991, college: St.Thomas, FL) scored 28 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Maximillion Bell (198-1999, college: Lane) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Heroes moved-up to tenth place. Spartans at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
SPB top team - Gaiteros (13-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Panteras (1-14) in Maracaibo 93-89. American guard Nahziah Carter (198-1999, college: Washington) notched 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Jesse Zarzuela supported him with 23 points and 4 assists. Gaiteros' coach Julio Duquela allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 31 points and 6 rebounds by guard Wilkerman Gomez (190-2001) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record. Panteras lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Gaiteros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Brillantes.

Gelvis Solano produced 20 points and 8 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cocodrilos have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Guaiqueries lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Cocodrilos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guaiqueries will play against Diablos (#9) in Caracas and hope to secure a win.




Cocodrilos - Guaiqueries 91-82

Third ranked Cocodrilos (12-3) beat at home 5th ranked Guaiqueries (9-6) by 9 points 91-82, which is the biggest margin this round on Wednesday night. Cocodrilos outrebounded Guaiqueries 42-28 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cocodrilos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Dominican Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American forward JD Miller (203-1996, college: TCU) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican point guard Gelvis Solano (185-1994, college: Merrimack) produced 20 points and 8 assists and American guard Tyrone White (201-1990, college: CSUB) added 21 points respectively for the guests.
