SPB 2026 - Marinos add Donta Smith to their roster via draft

Marinos de Anzoategui (SPB) added to their roster experienced 42-year old double-passport holder American small forward Donta Smith (201cm-100kg-1983, college: SE Illinois JC). He moved there from Trotamundos. He has played there for the last three years.
In 2004, he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) in the second round (34th overall). Smith graduated from Southeastern Illinois College, and it will be his 22nd season in pro basketball.
He is quite an experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in ten different countries. Smith tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America, and of course North America. He has played professionally in Australia, Bulgaria, China, Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Haifa), Mexico (Fuerza Regia), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Santeros, Cangrejeros, Gigantes, and Indios), France (Pau Lacq Orthez and Metropolitans), Italy (Brindisi), Venezuela (Espartanos and Bucaneros), and The Basketball Tournament (Team Rondo).
Smith played in the final of the Venezuelan SPB in 2025. H
