There was a surprise result when fifteenth rankedRegatas (3-4) won against higher ranked Union (4-4) in Corrientes 88-73 on Friday. American power forward Charles Thomas (203-1986, college: Arkansas) notched 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international forward Claudio Ramirez (200-1990) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Regatas players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 4 assists by American point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) did not help to save the game for Union . Point guard Alejandro Konsztadt (190-1989) added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Regatas moved-up to twelfth place. Union lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost.
