There was no surprise in La Rioja where 7th rankedOlimpico (5-4) was crushed by third ranked Riachuelo (7-2) 90-66 on Saturday. Riachuelo outrebounded Olimpico 50-26 including a 41-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Reginald Buckner (206-1991, college: Ole Miss) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Dominican forward Xavier Carreras (198-1994) who added 8 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. American swingman David Shriver (198-2000, college: VCU) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Guillermo Aliende (178-1997) scored 12 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Riachuelo have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Olimpico dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Union.
