Regular Season Round 15: Gimnasia - Union 66-88

Very expected game in Comodoro Rivadavia where 19th ranked Gimnasia CR (1-9) was rolled over by thirteenth ranked Union (6-7) 88-66 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Segundo Astulfi who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Ulises Gonzalez (-2005) helped adding 19 points and 12 rebounds. Four Union players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Uruguayan guard Thomas Araujo (192-2004) with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gimnasia CR's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Union moved-up to ninth place. Defending champion Gimnasia keeps the nineteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with San Martin. Union will meet higher ranked Obras (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gimnasia will play against Atenas (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
