Regular Season Round 17: Penarol - La Union 91-94

The most exciting game of round 17 in the La Liga took place in Mar del Plata. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of higher rankedPenarol (8-7) to seventeenth ranked La Union (6-10) 94-91 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Penarol. La Union dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol 's 46. La Union looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Jeremias Sandrini (185-1993) stepped up and scored 7 points and 15 assists for the winners and Manuel Rodriguez (203-2002) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Victor Fernandez (180-1999) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Penarol's coach Hernan Laginestra rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Union moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with San Lorenzo. Penarol at the other side keeps the tenth position with seven games lost.
