There was a surprise result in Santiado del Estero where twelfth rankedPenarol (9-9) beat higher ranked Quimsa (11-6) 84-79 on Saturday. American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) fired 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Anibal Marin chipped in 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Bahamas center Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Nicolas Romano (200-1987) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Penarol and four Quimsa players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Penarol moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ferro. Loser Quimsa keeps the fifth position with six games lost.
