There was a surprise result in Corrientes where thirteenth rankedSan Martin (11-11) smashed higher ranked Quimsa (13-8) 87-68 on Wednesday. Swingman Lucas Gargallo (196-1995) fired 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Tomas Botta chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four San Martin players scored in double figures. Bahamas center Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Juan Brussino (185-1991) added 11 points and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Martin maintains thirteenth place with 11-11 record, which they share with San Lorenzo. Loser Quimsa dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. San Martin will meet at home higher ranked Penarol (#12) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Quimsa will play against Union (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
