There was an upset when higher rankedFerro (13-13) lost to eighteenth ranked La Union (10-18) in Formosa 86-99 on Saturday. La Union outrebounded Ferro 40-22 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) notched 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) supported him with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. La Union's coach Jose Luis Pisani used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Paraguayan center Leonel Bettiga (208) did not help to save the game for Ferro . Swingman Felipe Rodriguez (195-2003) added 15 points and 4 steals. Five La Union and four Ferro players scored in double figures. La Union moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Independ.O. Loser Ferro keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Atenas.
