Regular Season Round 43: Gimnasia - Regatas 85-89

There was no surprise when 18th ranked Gimnasia CR (6-27) lost to third ranked Regatas (28-6) in Comodoro Rivadavia 85-89 on Saturday. Regatas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gimnasia CR's 32. It was an exceptional evening for Juan Larraza who led the winners and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Ignacio Ortega (205-2004) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Regatas players scored in double figures. Point guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) came up with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Valentino Ayala (190-2005) added 28 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Gimnasia in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Regatas. They maintain third place with 28-6 record having 2 victories less than leader Independ.O. Loser Gimnasia CR keeps the eighteenth position with 27 games lost. Regatas will meet league's second-placed Obras in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gimnasia will play against Riachuelo (#5) in La Rioja and hope to secure a win.
