Regular Season Round 12: Penarol - San Martin 63-78

There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked San Martin (3-7) defeated higher ranked Penarol (3-5) in Mar del Plata 78-63 on Wednesday. San Martin outrebounded Penarol 43-29 including 38 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Geronimo Ramallo who scored that evening 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Mateo Rearte supported him with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Four San Martin players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by Gonzalo Aman did not help to save the game for Penarol. point guard Gian Rossi (185-2005) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. San Martin moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Argentino. Loser Penarol keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. San Martin will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Penarol will play against Platense (#6) in Florida and hope to secure a win.
