Rather predictable result when fourth rankedSalta Basket (3-1) defeated at home 6th ranked Villa S.Martin (3-2) 87-80 on Monday. The best player for the winners was Tomas Botta who scored 17 points and 7 assists. American Chance Hunter (198-1998, college: Cal Poly) chipped in 16 points. Venezuelan Elian Centeno (200-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Agustin Vergara (200-2001) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salta Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with Caroya. Loser Villa S.Martin dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Salta Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Villa S.Martin will play against Jujuy and hope to secure a win.
