There was a minor upset when 4th rankedSan Jose (11-8) was smashed on the road by seventh ranked Avellaneda (7-11) 81-60 on Sunday. Avellaneda forced 20 San Jose turnovers. The winners were led by Selena Medrick who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds and Sofia Gonzalez supported her with 14 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Avellaneda players scored in double figures. Even 10 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Ashia McCalla (170-2000, college: UMBC, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for San Jose . Lorena Da Silva added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Avellaneda maintains seventh position with 7-11 record. San Jose lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth place with eight games lost.
