Very expected game in Buenos Aires where 14th rankedBoca Juniors (8-9) was edged by ninth ranked Gimnasia (12-9) 74-71 on Friday. Point guard Martiniano Dato (188-2004) stepped up and scored 14 points for the winners and Venezuelan forward Anyelo Cisneros (200-1997) chipped in 18 points. The former international swingman Martin Cuello (193-1993) responded with 24 points and American forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) scored 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gimnasia moved-up to seventh place. Boca Juniors lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Gimnasia will meet at home league's second-placed Independ.O. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boca Juniors will play against San Martin (#12) in Corrientes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
