There was a small surprise when eleventh rankedBoca Juniors (13-12) beat 9th ranked Instituto (15-13) in Buenos Aires 70-63 on Thursday. The winners were led by the former international guard Santiago Scala (186-1991) who scored that evening 18 points and American guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by naturalized Italian Vicente Garello (203-1997, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Instituto . Guard Nicolas Copello (193-1992) added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Boca Juniors have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Penarol. Instituto lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost.
