No shocking result in a game in Santa Fe where twelfth rankedComunicaciones (11-12) defeated 16th ranked Colon (8-17) 100-92 on Thursday. Comunicaciones outrebounded Colon 39-26 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spanish-Venezuelan swingman Franger Pirela (187-2002) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Tomas Allende (190-2002) chipped in 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Comunicaciones players scored in double figures. Swingman Hans Ponce (192-1999) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and guard Federico Gonzalez (183-1988) scored 24 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Comunicaciones have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Colon SF dropped to the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Rocamora. Comunicaciones will meet higher ranked Suardi (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Colon will play against Hindu (#15) in Cordoba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
