There was a small surprise in Rio de Janeiro where seventeenth rankedBotafogo (9-22) edged 14th ranked Sao Paulo (11-21) 86-85 on Saturday. Botafogo shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Derick Machado (198-1996) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Matheusinho Brito (183-2000) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Botafogo's coach Sebastian Luis Figueredo used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Cordero Bennett (184-1988) responded with 23 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. Four Botafogo and five Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Botafogo maintains seventeenth position with 9-22 record. Sao Paulo lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 21 games lost.
