There was no surprise in Rio de Janeiro whereVasco (0-3) was defeated by UNIFACISA (2-1) 84-80 on Friday. UniFacisa made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Venezuelan guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-1995) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Melvin Johnson (193-1993, college: VCU) helped adding 21 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Pedro Nunes (199-2000) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and center Thiago Mathias (208-1989, college: N.Mexico JC) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Vasco's coach Leo Figueiro let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
