No shocking result in a game when thirteenth rankedU.Corinthians (3-2) beat 19th ranked Rio Claro (1-6) in Santa Cruz do Sul 68-61 on Wednesday. It was an exceptional evening for American Jeremy Hollowell (203-1994, college: Georgia St., agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Fabricio Verissimo accounted for 4 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Stan Scott (193-1998, college: MSSU) came up with 10 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Wesley Ferreira (201-1995) added 13 points respectively for Rio Claro in the defeat. Rio Claro's coach Slobodan Nikolic rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. U.Corinthians moved-up to ninth place. Rio Claro lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the seventeenth position with six games lost. They share it with Osasco and Pato. U.Corinthians will meet higher ranked Pinheiros (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rio Claro will have a break next round.
