Bottom-rankedVasco (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 103-61 loss to seventh ranked Vivo/Franca (7-3) in Sao Paulo on Monday evening. Sesi/Franca outrebounded Vasco 32-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Sesi/Franca looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard David Jackson (192-1982, college: Penn State) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international center Lucas Dias (207-1995) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Thiago Mathias (208-1989, college: N.Mexico JC) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Douglas Silva (202-1998) scored 11 points, 9 assists and 6 steals. Five Sesi/Franca and four Vasco players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sesi/Franca moved-up to fourth place. Loser Vasco still closes the standings with ten games lost.
