There was a minor upset when 15th rankedFortaleza (3-9) was edged on the road by seventeenth ranked Rio Claro (4-10) 98-95 on Saturday. Rio Claro shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 60.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Gemadinha Sacco who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. American guard Stan Scott (193-1998, college: MSSU) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. Rio Claro's coach Slobodan Nikolic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Tradavis Thompson (188-2000, college: Lyn, agency: Starting 5) produced 31 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import point guard Michael Dupree (185-1995, college: Northwest) added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rio Claro moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Osasco. Cearense lost third consecutive game.
