The game had a very big importance for third-rankedPinheiros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pinheiros defeated 20th ranked Vasco in Sao Paulo 84-70 . Pinheiros looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard David Sloan (183-1999, college: ETSU) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 assists. Caua De Souza contributed with 12 points and 9 assists for the winners. Guard Luiz Basilio (192-1991) replied with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Alexsander Vernizz added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Vasco. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinheiros (12-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Flamengo and Minas. Vasco at the other side stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost.
