Everything went according to plan when second rankedMinas (14-2) defeated bottom-ranked Vasco (2-15) in Belo Horizonte 71-59 on Sunday. Minas forced 22 Vasco turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Erik McCree (202-1993, college: La Tech) who led the winners and scored 16 points. Uruguayan point guard Lucas Rodriguez (185-2007) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Sergio Conceicao (209-2000) came up with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Guilherme Deodato (192-1991) added 13 points and 9 assists respectively for Vasco in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Minas . They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Flamengo and Pinheiros. Loser Vasco stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost.
