There was no surprise when bottom-rankedMaringa (0-4) was crushed on the road by top-ranked Campinas (3-0) 85-56 on Wednesday. Campinas dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Maringa 's 24. Campinas forced 31 Maringa turnovers and outrebounded them 45-26 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Campinas looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Izabela Nicoletti (178-1999, college: Fairfield) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Yasmim Goncalves (174-1993) who added 9 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Campinas players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Thayna Sylvestre (181-2004) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and guard Anna Moreira (162-2004) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Maringa's coach Rafael Oliveira gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Campinas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 3-0 record, which they share with Sampaio. Loser Maringa still closes the standings with four games lost.
