There was no surprise when 9th rankedRecife (3-15) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Mesquita (7-10) 82-73 . Mesquita shot 31 for 43 from the free-throw line, while Recife only scored eleven points from the stripe. Mesquita forced 20 Recife turnovers and had a 38-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mesquita players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Recife was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Jayla Crawford (170-2000, college: Alabama St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import swingman Connie Clarke (178-2001, college: MWSU, agency: Interperformances) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Clarke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mesquita's coach Raphael Zaremba allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Jenyff Moura (185-2001) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and Mayara Leoncio added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Recife. Four Recife players scored in double figures. Mesquita have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 7-10 record. Recife at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Maringa.
