Sixth-rankedValdivia (0-9) gave a tough game to third ranked Puerto Varas (5-4). The visitors from Puerto Varas managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82 . However their fans expected easier game. Puerto Varas made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Puerto Varas outrebounded Valdivia 50-26 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valdivia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by the former international guard Marcelo Perez (196-1999, college: Southern Miss) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Andrew Corum (201-1997, college: Virginia St.) supported him with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 9 assists by the former international guard Erik Carrasco (181-1983) did not help to save the game for Valdivia . Branko Coro (-2003) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Puerto Varas maintains third position with 5-4 record having four points less than leader Los Leones, which they share with Colo Colo. Valdivia at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost.
