There was no surprise in Paillaco where 5th rankedUniv. Austral (1-5) was crushed by second ranked Alemana (4-2) 91-64 on Sunday. Alemana made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Alemana outrebounded Univ. Austral 57-24 including a 42-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Alemana made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Ziomara Morrison (194-1989) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) who added 18 points and 22 rebounds during the contest. Four Alemana P. players scored in double figures. Sofia Leichtle (-2006) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Paula Ortiz (-2003) scored 11 points and 5 steals. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Alemana maintains second position with 4-2 record behind leader Puente Alto. Loser Univ. Austral keeps the fifth place with five games lost.
