Very expected game in Merida where 7th rankedToritas (2-8) were defeated by third ranked Univ. Modelo (7-3) 72-62 . Univ. Modelo forced 21 Toritas turnovers and outrebounded them 55-40 including 21 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Paolett Garcia who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Melissa Ruiz (162-2002) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Univ. Modelo's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Yesica Vallejo came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and Cinthya Dominguez added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Toritas in the defeat. Four Toritas players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Univ. Modelo maintains third place with 7-3 record having seven points less than leader Mieleras. Toritas lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Huskys.
