Everything could happen in Mazatlan at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth rankedOstioneros de Guaymas and 9th ranked Venados had identical 2-5 record. But Venados were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Guaymas 79-72 on Tuesday night. Guaymas outrebounded Mazatlan 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Issa Muhammad (206-2001, college: UT Martin) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Sherif Gross-Bullock (196-1999, college: Bryant) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach Walter McCarty used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Nino Johnson (206-1993, college: SEMO, agency: Interperformances) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and point guard KJ Feagin (185-1997, college: SDSU) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for Mazatlan in the defeat. Four Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Guaymas maintains sixth place with 3-5 record, which they share with Frayles. Loser Venados dropped to the eighth position with six games lost.
