Regular Season Round 7: Astros - Frayles 110-88

CIBACOPA top team - Astros (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (3-5) in Guadalajara 110-88. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave' 28. They outrebounded Frayles 39-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Astros players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Malachi Richardson (197-1996, college: Syracuse) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-1992, college: Sacramento St.) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists. Five Astros players scored in double figures. Astros' coach Ivan Deniz felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) responded with 32 points and 4 assists and forward Raul Jimenez (201-2000) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Astros have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Frayles lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Astros will play against Frayles (#6) in Guasave in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Frayles will have a break next round.
