There was a small surprise when eighth rankedHalcones de Ciudad Obregon (7-9) won against at home 5th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (8-8) 88-81 on Friday. Obregon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Culiacan 's players. Americans were the main players on the court. Greg Whittington (205-1993, college: Georgetown) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and guard Tomas Nuno (196-1998, college: CMU) accounted for 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Daniel Hamilton (201-1995, college: UConn) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and forward Johnny Hughes III (201-1997, college: UIW) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Culiacan in the defeat. Five Obregon and four Culiacan players scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mazatlan and Guaymas. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan keeps the fifth position with eight games lost.
