There was an upset when higher rankedCaballeros de Culiacan (10-10) lost to seventh ranked Venados (9-11) in Mazatlan 69-75 on Sunday. Mazatlan made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Mazatlan outrebounded Culiacan 49-31 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American point guard Elijah Weaver (197-1998, college: Chicago St.) who scored that evening 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Troy Cracknell (193-1999, college: Augusta, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Isaac Hamilton (196-1994, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Culiacan . American-Filipino forward Nicholas Evans (210-1988, college: S.Indiana, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Mazatlan maintains seventh position with 9-11 record. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Tijuana.
