The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeatedAbejas (1-1) in Ciudad Victoria on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by thirteenth ranked Correcaminos (1-3) 90-69 . Correcaminos outrebounded Abejas 50-28 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Alphonso Willis (188-1998, college: A&M-Commerce) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) chipped in 22 points. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Croatian-American point guard Nikolas Tomsick (185-1991, college: Fort Lewis) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and American-Dominican guard Quarry Greenaway (193-1994, college: JWU, RI, agency: Daggers Sports) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Correcaminos left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Abejas at the other side dropped to the eighth position with one game lost.
