Very expected game in Mexicali where 14th rankedSantos (2-14) were defeated by first ranked Soles (14-2) 86-81 on Thursday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Soles made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Santos outrebounded Soles 37-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Santos ' players. The best player for the winners was American Donald Sims (190-1987, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 27 points. His fellow American import forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and Dominican Luismal Ferreiras (200-2003) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Four Santos players scored in double figures. Santos' coach Manuel Cintron rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Soles . They maintain first place with 14-2 record. Loser Santos stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost.
