There was no surprise when 7th rankedVenados (4-7) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Frayles de Guasave (6-3) 85-73 on Friday. Frayles outrebounded Mazatlan 51-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. American-South Sudanese forward Jay Pal (206-2000, college: SDSU, agency: JCK Sports Group) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American point guard Saeed Nelson (188-1998, college: American) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. American guard Clyde Trapp (193-1998, college: Charlotte) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import guard Taylor Johnson (193-1994, college: Dartmouth) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Frayles moved-up to third place. Loser Venados dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Angeles.
