Rather predictable result when first rankedPanteras (13-1) beat on the road 4th placed El Calor (8-6) 74-68 on Friday. Panteras held El Calor to an opponent 14.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 13.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Strangely El Calor outrebounded Panteras 391-311 including a 375-300 advantage in defensive rebounds. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (180-1993, college: UConn) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points and 4 assists. Dominican forward Esmery Martinez (188-2000, college: Arizona) helped adding 15 points and 8 assists. At the losing side American guard Danielle Rainey (178-1998, college: EKU, agency: Olsta) responded with 12 points and 7 assists and Puerto Rican guard Nina De Leon (168-2003, college: UTSA) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Panteras maintains first place with 13-1 record. Loser El Calor keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Panteras will meet league's second-placed Adelitas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. El Calor will play against Santas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
