Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Managua: Leones (#4) and Americas 2 (#8). Leones (15-1) crushed visiting Americas 2 (8-7) by 29 points 93-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Americas 2. Leones forced 29 Americas 2 turnovers. The former international Harold Barberena (179-1982) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Elijah Allen contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Leones players scored in double figures. The former international forward Troy Andrews (196-2000) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks and Adrian Slate added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Americas 2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifteenth consecutive win for Leones. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Brumas. Americas 2 at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Tigres and Mineros.
