The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Americas 2's (9-8) home loss to seventh ranked La Trinidad (12-6) 65-83 on Saturday. La Trinidad forced 22 Americas 2 turnovers. Point guard Mario Garcia (182-2000) fired 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Luder Hernandez (195-1995) chipped in 8 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Troy Andrews (196-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and Angelo Hodgson added 9 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for La Trinidad. They maintain seventh place with 12-6 record. Loser Americas 2 dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Mineros. La Trinidad will meet at home higher ranked Flecheros (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Americas 2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Managua to the arena Jaguares.
