Bottom-rankedLuqueno (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-60 loss to sixth ranked San Alfonso (4-6) in Luque on Thursday evening. San Alfonso outrebounded Luqueno 52-37 including a 43-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Alejandro Acosta helped adding 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Four San Alfonso players scored in double figures. Donatto Ferro responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Magno Farias scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Alfonso maintains sixth place with 4-6 record. Luqueno lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost.
