Regular Season Round 11: Amambay - San Jose 50-93

Date: September 18, 2025
There was no surprise when 5th ranked Amambay (5-5) was crushed at home by third ranked San Jose (8-2) 93-50 on Thursday. San Jose shot 60.7 percent from the field. San Jose outrebounded Amambay 43-32 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Jose looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Amambay's players. It was a great evening for American swingman Austin Wrighten (192-1996, college: Lynchburg) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Raven Barber (206-1991, college: Mt.St.Mary's) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Wrighten is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four San Jose players scored in double figures. Brazilian guard Osmar Ventura (190-2004) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Hugo Ramos scored 13 points and 4 steals. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for San Jose. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Colonias. Amambay at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. San Jose's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Ciudad N..
