Worth to mention about the upset in a game betweenCordon (3-3) and Defensor (2-2), which took place in Montevideo. Higher ranked Cordon lost to ninth ranked Defensor in a road game 65-82 on Thursday. Defensor outrebounded Cordon 48-30 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Malik Curry (184-1999, college: WVU) notched 26 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and the other American import forward James Montgomery (203, college: Barry) supported him with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Defensor's coach Gonzalo Fernandez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 33 points (!!!) and 4 steals by American point guard Deshone Hicks (178-1999, college: Ferrum) did not help to save the game for Cordon . Fernando Verrone (201-1988) added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Defensor moved-up to eighth place. Loser Cordon dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Bigua.
