There was a surprise result when twelfth rankedWelcome (2-11) defeated higher ranked Urunday (6-7) in Montevideo 97-86 on Thursday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Brandon Beavers (188, college: Lawrence Tech) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Angel Arevalo (195-2001) accounted for 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) came up with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and point guard Alejandro Acosta (189-1989) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists respectively for Urunday in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Welcome maintains twelfth place with 2-11 record. Urunday at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Bigua.
