Regular Season Round 21: Bigua - Penarol 72-83

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo:Penarol (#3) and Bigua (#8). Bigua was defeated at home 72-83 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Penarol dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Bigua 's 30. They outrebounded Bigua 44-27 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Victor Rudd (206-1991, college: S.Florida) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Dominican center Luis Santos (203-1994, college: St.Louis) accounted for 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Armenian-American guard Andre Spight (191-1995, college: N.Colorado) came up with 23 points and Spanish-Colombian power forward Juan Tello-Palacios (206-1985) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Bigua in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Penarol . They maintain third place with 15-5 record having five points less than leader Nacional. Loser Bigua keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost.
