The biggest surprise took place in Montevideo where hostMalvin (7-2) beat league's leader Nacional (7-2) 82-75 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Nacional. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Puerto Rican swingman Jesus Cruz (196-1998, college: Fairfield) fired 20 points and 5 steals (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Forward Nicolas Martinez (206-2003) chipped in 20 points. Four Malvin players scored in double figures. American forward Connor Zinaich (201-1997, college: Nova SE) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and American-Dominican center James Feldeine (193-1988, college: Quinnipiac) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Nacional's coach Alvaro Ponce rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Malvin have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Nacional.
